- Can you tell us a little about yourself?
Donna Schulz, Project Controller I moved to Florida 19 years ago with my husband and two sons, never expecting to work in the power industry as my background was in another area. Through a mutual friend, I met with a TTS executive and knew at that moment I wanted to join this team. 17 years later, I still know that I made the right decision that day for myself and my family.
- What does a project controller do at TTS?
As a key member of the project team, I work with the director of projects and project engineers to help define the project’s goals and objectives, track changes that occur, analyze progress reported against the work schedules, and recommend actions to improve progress.
- What are the three most important parts of your job?
- Communication Management – Making sure that we are in constant communication with each other, customers, vendors, logistics—anyone who needs to know the progress of a job.
- Logistics – Managing all incoming and outgoing parts. This can be like a juggling act in which you are trying your best to meet all expectations, and as usual, something shifts.
- Client & Vendor Relations – Maintaining relationships with clients and vendors is key to my success. Setting expectations, communicating any updates, and always looking for a way to save all of us money and time.
- Is there anything particularly challenging you deal with in today’s business environment?
Supply chain issues are still such a headache for many of us. Deliveries change daily, which makes managing a customer’s expectations so difficult. I’m not sure any of us truly understand the issues in the supply chain, as we have all heard so many different reasons (excuses). I thought in 2023 most of these issues would have been resolved, but clearly, we are still quite some time away from resolution.
- What do you enjoy most about your job?
There is so much I could say about why I enjoy my job as I have been here 17 years, but first and foremost, it would be my coworkers. I work with amazing people, and they are very much an extended family to me. I tell people all the time I’m part of the “dream team.”
- What do you enjoy most about working at TTS?
I enjoy traveling to customer sites and seeing a project that TTS has completed, knowing that together as the dream team, we accomplished this. I also enjoy traveling to many tradeshows, meeting with end users, vendors, and anyone who will listen to me tell them about how great TTS is and how we can work together.
